We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance function. The role is suitable for a part-qualified Accountant or experienced Analyst, with competent excel and financial analysis skills, with a focus on supporting a national and international business from the Sydney head office. The successful candidate will enjoy the opportunity to learn and grow in a projects-based NetSuite environment.
Ownership of critical AR function, low volume high value transactions, including:
• Ensure billing plans for key contracts are maintained and tracked.
• Liaise with teams in ensuring claim submission and invoices are issued to clients.
• Prepare tax invoices in NetSuite (low volume).
• Maintain weekly cashflow receipt inputs for CFO review.
• Revenue recognition entries for value earned for milestone contracts
Key team player in monthly accounting and control activities, including:
• Monthly allocations for prepayments, insurances, and other corporate costs.
• Ensure accurate cost allocations between departments and projects.
• Monthly Balance reconciliations (shared responsibility).
• Month-end Reviews on completion of AP and payroll activities.
• Cost and margin reviews for small to medium sized contracts.
• Develop commercial and finance acumen for advice to wider business and teams on transactions.
• Key player in audit preparation and contact for auditors during testing and preparation of Y/E accounts.
• Scope to grow the role into a highly commercial focus on project and cost center financial reviews and reporting.
• Work closely with peers, managers, and wider teams to provide high standard of financial support and advice.
The successful candidate will bring:
• Bachelor's degree and studying towards an Accounting qualification.
• Prior experience in AR/AP, posting journals, month-end.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards.
• Competent in Microsoft Excel and NetSuite. Familiar with various Accounting software.
• Experience working within construction, heavy industry or a project-based environment is desirable.
• High level attention to detail, strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
• A self-starter with excellent communication skills.
