We are currently seeking a Closure Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-quality closure studies while supporting business growth, innovation and technical excellence.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working across the full lifecycle of studies and projects, from early-stage concept development and tendering through to detailed design, delivery and client engagement.

About the Role

As a Closure Engineer, you will support the identification and delivery of closure study opportunities, providing technical engineering input, design oversight and cost estimation. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and third-party consultants to deliver innovative, practical and commercially sound closure outcomes for clients across Australia.

You’ll also contribute to the continued development of Liberty Industrial’s closure study capability, systems and market presence.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver closure studies on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical engineering support and reporting.
  • Assist with business development, tenders and proposals for closure studies.
  • Develop and manage relationships with third-party engineering consultants.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Analyse complex engineering problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Prepare and present engineering deliverables to clients at tender and post-delivery stages.
  • Support innovation, continuous improvement and technology adoption (including GIS and estimating software)
  • Maintain strong commitment to HSEQ and the company’s Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001).
  • Ad-hoc travel to project sites.

About You:

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering role and/or closure studies within the resources or heavy industrial sector.
  • Prior experience working on-site (demolition projects highly advantageous).
  • Experience working with engineering consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commercially aware with an interest in tenders, estimating and business development.
  • CPEng or Engineers Australia accreditation highly regarded.
  • Experience with MS Project and QGIS may be favourable.
