Job Description
As a Multiskilled Oxy Cutter, you will be responsible for carrying out oxy-cutting works across structural steel, pipework, plant, and equipment. The role involves demolition oxy-cutting at heights in live and complex industrial environments, as well as processing and sizing scrap metal to meet project requirements.
You will work closely with operators, supervisors, and engineers to safely sequence demolition activities while following approved work methods, SWMS, and permit systems. The position also includes conducting pre-start checks, maintaining tools and equipment, identifying hazards, and actively contributing to a strong site safety culture. General demolition and labouring tasks may be required, along with working extended hours on rotating FIFO rosters in remote locations.
This is a hands-on role that requires reliability, physical capability, and a strong team mindset.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you’ll need
Valid Construction White Card
Demonstrated experience as an oxy cutter in demolition or heavy industrial environments
Proven ability to carry out structural oxy-cutting, including work at heights
or extensive experience processing scrap metal using oxy-cutting techniques
Strong understanding of safety requirements, permits, and risk controls
Ability to work long hours in FIFO and remote site conditions
Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Willingness to undertake a variety of tasks to support project delivery
Roster details
3 weeks on / 1 week off
Monday to Sunday (every second Sunday off)
10-hour days
Benefits
Hourly rate: $34.07 – $44.47 (based on qualifications and experience)
Generous overtime, typically 60+ hours per week
