We are currently seeking experienced HSEQ Leads and HSEQ Advisors to support a significant Melbourne-based project, with both local Melbourne and FIFO 2:1 options available depending on experience and role level.

Job Description

The Opportunity

As the HSEQ Lead, you will lead all HSEQ functions on site, providing direction, oversight and support to both operational teams and HSEQ Advisors.

This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring a strong field presence, clear direction, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are not only in place, but are understood, implemented and continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all HSEQ activities across the project
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to HSEQ Advisors and site teams
  • Drive a proactive, positive safety culture through strong field engagement
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company systems and client requirements
  • Oversee site inspections, audits and risk management processes
  • Lead incident investigations (ICAM) and ensure outcomes and learnings are embedded
  • Review, approve and ensure implementation of Safe Systems of Work, SWMS and procedures
  • Engage with Project Managers, Supervisors and workforce to influence safe behaviours
  • Monitor site performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver clear, consistent communication across all levels – from site crews to senior leadership and client representatives
  • Ensure all reporting, documentation and compliance records are accurate and up to date
  • Support training, development and capability uplift across the workforce

The Opportunity

These are hands-on operational roles requiring strong field presence, practical problem-solving and the ability to build trusted relationships across crews, supervisors, project teams and clients.

Depending on your level of experience, you may:

• Lead and support HSEQ activities across major project environments
• Provide coaching, mentoring and support to operational teams and Advisors
• Drive a proactive and practical safety culture through visible site engagement
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions (ICAM highly regarded)
• Conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments
• Assist in developing and implementing SWMS, procedures and safety systems
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company systems and client requirements
• Partner closely with Project Managers, Supervisors and site teams to deliver safe outcomes
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery

About You

We are looking for practical, people-focused HSEQ professionals who can influence outcomes and build credibility on site.

You will ideally bring:

• Experience as an HSEQ Advisor, Senior Advisor, HSEQ Lead or HSEQ Manager
• Strong background in heavy industry such as construction, demolition, remediation, mining, shutdowns or civil works
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum)
• Strong understanding of WHS legislation and compliance frameworks
• Experience conducting or supporting incident investigations (ICAM preferred)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
• Practical, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-risk project environments

Highly Regarded

• Demolition, remediation or major industrial project experience
• Cert IV Training & Assessment
• Auditing experience
• Exposure to DoneSafe or similar HSEQ systems
• Mental Health First Aid
